Occasionally, an auto-start sound cue will simply fail to fire. It may play fine the next time and the next, but eventually it will fail again. After all that, I solved the problem. In VMWare Fusion, there's an option under Settings > Display to turn off the full resolution of the Retina display while using Fusion. That brought everything back to the proportions I was used to.

Um, actually, I don't get the same memo cue panel in the editor that's shown in the Help file. Mine doesn't have the brown border or the display time field or the Preview/Set Memo Size button at the bottom. Is there something in the Options I need to tick?
